Hawaii Sunrise at the Beach

hawaii beach sunrise

I messed up my sleep schedule badly last night. I fell asleep shortly after work at about 5:30pm, and woke up at midnight. I couldn’t go back to bed, so I decided to make the best of it and head down to the beach to take care of something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now …

Get some pictures of Honolulu, Waikiki, Diamond Head, etc, as the sun comes up.

Here are a few that I liked. I hope you enjoy.

Aloha til next time,
Todd

Great shots! I especially like the third and last photos. Beautiful.

Thanks for your visit and comments on my blog. No wonder you carry a camera around with you and take photos almost every day - look where you live! I would too if I lived there. LOL

I do have a portable hard drive (200 or 300 gig - can’t remember right now) but I don’t use it often. Probably because we have a puppy and dragging it out with the wires etc is a pain with her investigating everything I do. Using it would solve my storage problem though! Thanks for the tips.

BTW I’m also on a lot of do follow lists - in fact I started the Do Follow Blogroll so I really get hit with spam as a result. Pain in the butt! I hate spammers and link seekers.

Great shots from the beach! My wife and I are moving to Oahu Sept. 7th. We are interested in Iroqouis Point, how do you like it? We are staying with friends in Kapolei when we arrive.Any words of wisdom?

Hi Sal,

Iroquois Point has some of the most affordable housing on the Island. It’s got security, with a gate. It’s got a little beach right here on the property. If you have a military ID card, there’s an NEX mini-mart with a gas station. We have our own elementary school, and there are are facilities like a gym, tennis and basketball courts.

That’s the good stuff. Now the not so good …

These houses used to be Navy family housing, and are all 30+ years old. You can take any house and make it a “home”, but when they sit empty, I don’t see any way you could describe them as “nice” or “new”. Also, the utility bills are pretty high (especially if you’re coming from the mainland). We have a 4-bedroom house, and our electricity/water/sewer bill fluctuates between $300 and $500 a month … insulation is not good.

The only other real downside, is the traffic. I work 16 miles from my house. In the morning it’s not to bad, I usually get to work in about 35-40 minutes. But in the afternoon, it’s 45 minutes on a good day, and well over an hour when the traffic is bad.

All-in-all, Iroquois Point is not a bad place to live … just make sure you weigh all the variables before you sign the lease.

Hope this helps,
Todd

Our friends there are military but we are not.We are staying with them at the Kalealoa homes in Kapolei until we find a place.I-Point looks nice on the net,the beach and amenities are a plus.I guess we will just have to wait and see.We don’t need more than 2 bedrooms, maybe 1 to start. We are leaving Balt,Md. and I know some people here with utility bills $300-$500.I won’t miss the winter!Gas has dropped to $3.50 here but taxes are high and so is housing. It’s not affordable anywhere unless your’re rich! Thanks for the tips.

Sal
